08-001 - Tuesday January
1st at 9:23 pm Rescue 11 and Engine 15 responded MA to Station
59 to I-71 mm 156 for an MVC, car into the guardrail. At 9:41
pm all units were cancelled by OSP non-injury. All units returned
to quarters at 10:20 pm.
08-002 - Wednesday January
2nd at 6:51 am Rescue 11 and Engine 15 responded to I-71 mm 150
for an MVC for semi rollover in the median. OSP arrived on the
scene and cancelled all emergency equipment at 7:00 am.
08-003 - Wednesday January
2nd at 2:32 pm Engine 15 responded to C R 20 for an MVC with
power lines down across the road. Engine 15 arrived on the scene
at 2:46 pm and investigated the scene, called for the electric
company and turned the scene over the OSP. Engine 15 returned
to quarters at 3:30 pm.
08-004 - Wednesday January
2nd at 4:29 pm Engine 15 and Rescue 11 responded to I-71 for
an MVC at the 151 mm. Medic 9 arrived on the scene and determined
it was a non-injury accident. All units returned to quarters
at 6:00 pm.
08-005 - Wednesday January
2nd at 6:03 pm when firefighters responded to Cypress Lane for
a squad assist. Members were released at 6:18 pm.
08-006 - Thursday January
3rd at 12:23 pm Rescue 11 and Engine 15 responded to a two car
MVC at the intersection of US 42 North and Rd 103. Firefighters
assisted the squad with a victim and disconnected the battery
to prevent any possibility of fire. Units returned to quarters
at 1:00 pm.
08-007 - Thursday January
3rd at 9:02 pm Rescue 11 responded to a two car MVC at the intersection
of US 42 South and Rd 24. Firefighters assisted with a victim
and disconnected the battery to prevent the possibility of fire.
Units returned to quarters at 9:30 pm.
08-008 - Saturday January
5th at 2:55 pm Engine 15 responded to reported gas leak on E.
High Street in Edison. Firefighters investigated, found the cause
of the gas odor, removed the item form the structure and aired
out the structure to remove any residual odor. Engine 15 returned
to quarters at 3:18 pm.
08-009 - Sunday January 6th
at 3:27 am Engine 15 responded to a reported fire at 221 Iberia
Street. Upon units arrival the occupants of the home had extinguished
the fire in the dining room with buckets of water. Firefighters
used a thermal imaging camera to be sure that the fire was out
throughout the burned area. The damage to the structure was estimated
at $2,000 with $800 to the contents. The structure was insured,
but the contents were not. Firefighters returned to quarters
at 4:15 am.
08-010 - Wednesday January
9th at 2:13 pm Engine 15 responded to N. Vine Street for a CO
check. A new furnace had been installed and the occupant requested
a check to be sure it was safe. Firefighters started the furnace
and checked for CO finding none firefighters returned to quarters
at 2:45 pm.
08-011 - Friday January 11th
at 1:41 pm Brush 12 responded to 6169 SR 95 at I-71 to assist
squad 1 with the removal of a patient from a vehicle. The squad
had two patients and requested a firefighter driver to MCH. Brush
12 returned to quarters at 2:28 pm.
08-012 - Sunday January 12th
at 12:25 am Engine 15, Tanker 14 and Rescue 11 responded to Rd
28 in Denmark for an overheated wood stove. Firefighters with
the aid of the thermal imaging camera checked all the walls,
ceiling and upon the roof for any possible fire. Nothing was
determined to be on fire, so firefighters waited until the walls
cooled before they left the scene at 1:25 am.
08-013 - Monday January 14th
at 11:01 pm Engine 15, Tanker 14, Rescue 11, Squad 1 all responded
to a fire alarm at Leaping-to-Learn on West High Street in Edison.
Entry was made by the Knox Box system so firefighters could check
out the interior of the building without doing damage to the
door. Firefighters checked the entire structure and found that
a detector had malfunctioned and there was no fire. The occupant
of the structure came and verified the resetting of the alarm.
All units returned to quarters at 12:00 am.
08-014 - Tuesday January
15th at 12:06 pm Rescue 11 and Engine 15 responded to 4445 Rd
101 for an MVC rollover. Units arrived on the scene to find no
injuries. Firefighters checked the vehicle for any leaking fluids,
finding none returned to quarters at 12:24 pm.
08-015 -Tuesday January 15th
as units were returning to quarters from Rd 101, responded to
another MVC on SR 95 West of Edison past the centennial barn
for an MVC with a vehicle in the ditch. Firefighters checked
out the vehicle and determined that there were no fluids leaking.
All units returned to quarters at 1:15 pm.
08-016 Thursday January 17th
at 1:05 pm Station 19 was dispatched to an MVC at 506 West High
Street in front of Subway. Reports indicated that there was no
entrapment and only liquids leaking form the vehicle. Brush 12-responded
non-emergency with absorbent to contain the liquids. Brush 12
returned to quarters at 1:25 pm.
08-017 Thursday January 17th
at 6:06 pm Engine 15 and Tanker 14 responded to a reported car
fire at 3984 State Route 95. Engine 30 responded from Chesterville
as MA. Upon arrival on the scene, it was determined that the
engine had blown and oil had come in contact with the catalytic
converter and had been on fire. Firefighters determined that
the fire was out and all equipment returned to quarters at 6:30
pm.
08-018 Friday January 18th
at 1:32 pm Engine 15 responded non-emergency to Neal Avenue to
investigate lines down across the road. Upon arrival it was determined
that the wires were cable. Firefighters rolled up the wire and
hung it on the utility pole out of the roadway. Engine 15 returned
to quarters at 2:00 pm.
08-019 Saturday January 19th
at 10:59 am Tanker 14 responded MA with Station 49 for a chimney
fire on State Route 288. Tanker 14 was released at 12:03 pm.
08-020 Monday January 21st
at 9:13 am Engine 15 responded to 296 East Union Street for a
CO check without symptoms. A kerosene heater was operating in
the kitchen and the squad requested a check. No CO was found
and Engine 15 returned top quarters at 9:30 pm.
08-021 Tuesday January 22nd
at 8:36 pm Station 19, Squad 1, Squad 2, Squad 3 and Medic 9
responded to a 2-car MVC on St RT 61 South. Assistant Chief Young
and Captain Young were responding to the station and came upon
the scene. After assessing the situation advised to respond Station
29 for Rescue 20 and advised that there were 3-entrapments with
two being serious. Fire units arrived on the scene at 8:42 pm
started patient care and prepared for extrication. Two Med Flit
helicopters were dispatched to the scene. The first victim was
extricated and flown out at approximately 9:15 pm. The second
helicopter landed at 9:21 pm and lifted off with the second victim
at approximately 10:07 pm. Squad transported two additional victims
to MCH. All units cleared the scene at 10:10 pm. After cleanup
of the rescue tools firefighters left the station at 10:30 pm.
08-022 Wednesday January
23rd at 4:44 pm firefighters responded in personal vehicles to
assist squad 1 with removing a person from the second floor down
town. All members were released at 5:12 pm.
08-023 Thursday January 24th
at 4:06 am Tower 18 responded to 575 West Marion Street mutual
aid with Station 29 for smoke in the building. The source of
the smoke was located and all mutual aid equipment Tower 18 returned
to quarters at 4:30 am.
08-024 Friday January 25th
at 3:21 pm Engine 15 and Rescue 11 responded to a fire a 397
South Delaware Street Lot #18. Units arrived on the scene at
3:25 pm to find the owner removing the electrical receptacle
from the wall. The fire had burned the receptacle and wires in
the wall. The power was shut off and the owner was going to replace
the receptacle. All units returned to quarters at 3:45 pm.
08-025 Friday January 25th
at 4:24 pm Tanker 14 responded MA with Station 29 for a reported
oven fire. When St 29 arrived on the scene Tanker 14 was cancelled
and returned to quarters at 4:45 pm.
08-026 Friday January 25th
at 7:37 pm Engine 15 responded to Woodside Village for an activated
fire alarm with water flowing. A water flowing indicates that
normally a sprinkler has been activated. This was not the case,
either air pressure was lost or there was a spike in water pressure
opening the flapper valve and allowing the air pressure to become
reduced and cause the water flow. The system was reset and maintenance
called to repair the unit. The staff was directed to do a fire
watch until the system was repaired. Engine 15 returned to quarters
at 8:15 pm.
08-027 Saturday January 26th
at 12:21 am Tanker 14 responded MA with Station 29 for a reported
house fire on Rd 167. After firefighters from station 29 arrived
on the scene Tanker 14 was cancelled at 12:32 am and returned
to quarters at 1:00 am.
08-028 Saturday January 26th
at 8:14 am Station 19 was dispatched to an MVC on St RT 61 South
of the Village. It was determined that the actual crash was at
St RT 61 and St RT 309. Station 19 was cancelled at 8:23 am and
returned to quarters at 8:45 am.
08-029 Sunday January 27th
at 3:20 pm Engine 10 and Engine 15 responded to the ODOT building
at 710 Union Street for a truck fire inside the garage. Engine
15 arrived on the scene at 3:27 pm and found smoke coming from
the engine compartment and under the driver seat area. A worker
had been called and moved the truck out of the building to the
east drive. Firefighters disconnected the batteries and determined
that some type of electrical short had burned a wire from the
engine to the box under the cab driver seat. All units left the
scene at 3:44 pm.
08-030 Sunday January 27th
at 8:46 pm Engine 15 and Tanker 14 responded to a reported car
fire on St RT 61 South. Upon arrival of Engine 15 it was determined
that the response was an MVC not a fire. Engine 15 stayed on
the scene to assist the Ohio State Patrol with traffic until
9:30 pm when all equipment returned to quarters at 9:45 pm.
08-031 Wednesday January
30th at 8:11 am Engine 15 responded to wires down on West Marion
Street at the intersection of Delaware Street. The wires were
cable TV wires. Engine 15 returned to quarters at 8:30 am.
08-032 Wednesday January
30th at 6:32 pm Engine 15 responded to 4563 road 101 for a CO
check. The CO detector was alarming in the home and outside in
the barn. No CO was found in the residence. The detector was
almost 10 years old. Engine 15 returned to quarters at 7:15 pm.
08-033 Thursday January 31st
at 3:07 pm Rescue 11 and Engine 15 responded to a reported MVC
on I-71 at the 156 mm, car and semi. Medic 9 and Squad 1 reported
nothing found and all equipment canceled and returned to quarters
at 3:37 pm. Units staged at the interstate until confirmation
was made that nothing was found.
08-034 Thursday January 31st
at 6:46 pm Brush 12 responded MA with Station 29 for a brush/trash
fire on road 159. Station 29 personnel arrived on the scene and
cancelled Brush 12. Brush 12 returned to quarters at 7:01 pm.
