08-249 Friday August 1st at 8:39 pm Engine 15 responded MA with Station 39 for a possible van/camper fire on I-71 at 146 mm. At 8:53 pm Squad 3 cancelled the response for the fire departments due to a broken radiator hose on the vehicle. All units returned to quarters at 9:04 pm.

 

08-250 Monday August 4th at 10:20 am Engine 15 responded to 578 Marion Road for a lady trapped in her basement. Firefighters dismantled the door and extricated the lady. Engine 15 returned to quarters at 10:44 am.

 

08-251 Monday August 4th at 3:30 pm Squad 2 was dispatched to 338 Park Avenue for a football injury. Engine 15 responded to assist with the victim until squad 2 could arrive from Cardington. Squad 2 arrived and firefighters assisted with the football player and then returned to quarters at 3:54 pm.

 

08-252 Tuesday August 5th at 8:26 pm Engine 15 responded to 211 Railroad Street in Edison for a fire in a grain dryer that was being dismantled. Engine 15 arrived on the scene at 8:36 pm, the fire was extinguished at 9:34 pm. Engine 15 returned to quarters at 9:38 pm.

 

08-253 Wednesday August 6th Engine 15 responded to an MVC at 359 West High Street at 4:05 pm to contain leaking fluid form one vehicle. Engine 15 arrived on the scene at 4:09 pm, disconnected the battery and was enroute to quarters at 4:13 when dispatched to a medical response.

 

08-254 Wednesday August 6th Engine 15 responded to 397 South Delaware Street to assist Medic 9 a non-breather until Squad 2 could arrive from Cardington. Squad 1 was on an emergency response at the time. Engine 15 returned to quarters at 5:15 pm.

 

08-255 Wednesday August 6th at 8:11 pm Engine 15 and Tanker 14 responded to 4761 road 116 for a manure pile on fire. Engine 15 arrived on the scene at 8:22 pm. The owner was on the scene and used his tractor to spread the manure so the fire could be extinguished at 8:58. Engine 15 and Tanker 14 returned to quarters at 9:10 pm.

 

08-256 Wednesday August 6th at 9:31 pm Rescue 11 and Engine 15 responded MA with Station 39 for a n MVC rollover on I-71 at the 150 mm south bound. Rescue 11 arrived on the scene at 9:40 pm to assist Engine 30 from Station 39. Engine 15 returned to quarters at 9:42 pm. Firefighters from both departments assisted the squad with the removal of the victim, cutting off two rings and loading the victim into the squad. Rescue 11 was released at 9:53 pm returning to quarters at 10:18 pm.

 

08-257 Friday August 8th at 3:30 pm Rescue 11 and Engine 15 responded to an MVC rollover on road 110. As EMS units arrived, they advised that there were no entrapments, but the vehicle was on it’s top. Rescue 11 continued on into the scene to investigate while Engine 15 returned to quarters. Rescue 11 firefighters check the vehicle for leaking fluids and then returned to quarters at 4:00 pm.

 

08-258 Saturday August 9th at 3:31 am Engine 15, Engine 10, Tower 18 and Rescue 11 responded to a fully involved two-story barn fire behind 247 West High Street. Engine 15 arrived on the scene at 3:37 am, deployed two 1 ¾” pre-connected hand lines to protect exposures. By this time the building was a total loss. There was damage to the three-stall garage to the west across the parking lot, damage to the house siding at 266 South Delaware Street. Trees to the East of the building protected the apartment complex to the immediate East of the building. The State Fire Marshall’s office was notified at 4:45 am and arrived on the scene at 5:48 am. The Fire Marshall’s Arson Investigator confirmed Fire Chief 101’s suspicions that it was in fact an arson fire. There was no electric to the structure, the lawn mower inside the building had not been run this year. There were 2 small containers of gasoline in the building. The loss has not been completely determined at this time the fire is still under investigation. All units returned to quarters at 6:05 am. Chief 101 met with the Fire Investigator until 7:00 am.

 

08-259 Saturday August 9th at 9:07 pm Brush 12 with two firefighters were dispatched to a reported illegal burn at 4763 Road 20. After an investigation it was determined that the fire was a legal fire and that the next time they need to call and report that they are having a controlled bon fire. Brush 12 returned to quarters at 9:44 pm.

 

08-260 Saturday August 9th at 10:49 pm Brush 12 responded to a reported electric wires arching at 5025 Road 126. Brush 12 investigated the area and found nothing returning to quarters at 11:15 pm.

08-261 Tuesday August 12th at 6:43 pm Brush 12 and three firefighters in POV’s responded to West High Street to assist the squad with a man that was unconscious and unresponsive in a bathroom upstairs. Brush 12 returned to quarters at 7.54 pm.

 

08-262 Wednesday August 13th at 11:16 am Engine 15 responded to 8101 road 9 to investigate an illegal burn for Station 49. After investigating the scene it was found that the person was burning roofing shingles and had several tires laying around the pile. The fire chief made the person bury the pile of burning shingles and remove the tires from the area. Engine 15 returned to the village at 12:00 noon to determine if the west siren was working. It was not working, the control board was found fired because it had been hit by lightning earlier in the month. Engine 15 returned to quarters.

 

08-263 Wednesday August 13th at 12:58 pm Engine 15, Tanker 14 and Brush 12 were dispatched to the area of road a27 and road 60 for a field fire. Upon arrival it was determined that the fire we were dispatched to was actually in Caledonia’s fire district. All equipment responded up the road to assist. All units returned to quarters at 2:45 pm.

 

08-264 Friday August 15th at 1:21 pm Engine 15, Tanker 14 and Brush 12 were dispatched MA with Station 39 for a grass fire at 2455 road 186. Chief 301 on the scene cancelled Tanker 14 and Engine 15 but had Brush 12 continue on into the scene. Brush 12 returned to quarters at 2:20 pm.

 

08-265 Friday August 15th at 1:55 pm Engine 15 responded to the MG High School for a reported odor of gas. Firefighters investigated the area and determined that there was a slight odor of propane in the air but could not determine the source. Other odors smelling almost like gas was determined to be the diesel fumes from the earth moving equipment burning off road diesel fuel. Engine 15 returned to quarters at 3:00 pm.

 

08-266 Friday August 15th at 3:37 pm Rescue 11 responded MA with Station 49 for a reported MVC with injury to 4044 St Rt 309. It was determined that there were no entrapments and Rescue 11 was cancelled at 3:38 pm.

 

08-267 Saturday August 16th at 2:42 pm Engine 15 and Tanker 14 responded MA with Station 39 to Wendy’s for a reported car fire. A firefighter in his POV responded direct to the scene and did not find anything but the odor of burnt oil. All units were cancelled while enroute. Engine 15 continued to I-71 interchange to be sure that the reported fire was not on this side of the freeway. All units returned to quarters at 3:15 pm.

 

08-268 Sunday August 17th at 4:28 pm Station 19 was dispatched to 371 South Delaware Street for a fire alarm. At 4:32 pm the alarm was cancelled and reported as a false alarm. No equipment responded.

 

08-269 Monday August 18th at 10:26 am Engine 15 was dispatched to the odor of gas at 504 West High Street, Knox Bank Branch. A slight residual odor of natural gas was noticed in the entryway. The building was check and no gas was found. Firefighters decided to check the area gas regulators. Leaks were found at two businesses. Engine 15 returned to quarters at 11:15 am.

 

08-270 Monday August 18th at 11:48 am Squad 1 requested assistance with lifting at 238 Bank Street. Brush 12 arrived on the scene at 11:50 am and returned to quarters at 11:58 am.

 

08-271 Tuesday August 19th at 3:02 pm Engine 15 was dispatched to 47 East Center Street, Morrow County Dispatch Center, for a fire alarm. The investigation determined that the system had a failure in the front smoke detector. The system could not be reset, the smoke detector was cleaned and replaced. This did not correct the problem. Embarq was notified of the problem. Engine 15 returned to quarters at 4:01 pm. The on duty dispatchers conducted a fire watch until the system was repaired.

 

08-272 Tuesday August 19th at 8:58 pm Engine 15 and Rescue 11 responded to I-71 mm 152 N.B. for an MVC involving a car and a deer thru the windshield. Medic 9 arrived on the scene and cancelled the F. D. due to no entrapment or leaking fluids. All equipment returned to quarters at 9:20 pm/

 

08-273 Wednesday August 20th at 2:19 pm Engine 15, Engine 20, Engine 50, Tower 18, Squad 1, 2, 5 and Medic 9 were dispatched to a fire alarm at 950 Meadow Drive at the Meadow Center Mental Health building. Upon arrival it was found that there had been a fire drill conducted at the building. Additional investigation revealed that the wrong password had been given to the alarm company so they alerted the dispatch center of the alarm. The password give was for a burglary not a fire drill. All units were cancelled at 2:24 pm and all companies returned to quarters at 2:38 pm.

 

08-274 Thursday August 21st at 2:07 pm Engine 15 responded to 196 South Main Street for a two car MVC, non-injury crash. Firefighters disconnected the batteries to reduce the possibility of fire and put absorbent on the antifreeze spilled on the roadway. Engine 15 returned to quarters at 2:30 pm.


08-275 Friday August 22nd at 5:16 pm Station 19 was dispatched to 5 South Main Street for an MVC. Medic 9 arrived on the scene and cancelled the fire department at 5:18 pm.

 

08-276 Sunday August 24th at 8:23 am Rescue 11 responded to an MVC at 4915 road 118 for a car off the road. Medic 9 arrived on the scene and cancelled Rescue 11 at 8:39 am. Rescue 11 returned to quarters at 8:51 am.

 

08-277 Sunday August 24th at 8:36 am Engine 15 responded MA with Medic 1 for assistance in moving a patient form the house to the squad. The patient was in an awkward location in the house. Engine 15 returned to quarters at 9:00 am.

 

08-278 Wednesday August 27th at 5:35 pm Chief 101 and Rescue 11 responded to 600 Douglas Street for an activated fire alarm at an unknown apartment. Chief 101 arrived on the scene at 5:37 pm locating the apartment and determined that the occupant had burned food on the stove. Chief 101 reduced the response to non-emergency for Rescue 11. Firefighters ventilated the apartment of the smoke and reset the alarm. All units returned to quarters at 8:02 pm. No damage to the apartment.

 

08-279 Tuesday August 26th at 6:50 pm Brush 12 responded MA with Station 29 for a grass fire on road 169. At 7:00 pm Brush 12 was cancelled and returned to quarters at 7:02 pm.

 

08-280 Thursday August 26th at 5:51 pm Station 19 was dispatched MA with Station 39 for an MVC at 31 West Sandusky Street in Chesterville. Medic 9 arrived on the scene and cancelled Station 19 at 5:56 pm.

 

08-281 Sunday August 31st at 2:39 am Engine 15 responded to a vehicle fire at 5364 US 42 South. The City PD had used an ABC fire extinguisher in the fire so firefighters had to overhaul the area. Some embers were located and extinguished. It was determined that the vehicle had been stolen from Dayton and had been setting along the highway most of the day before the fire. Engine 15 returned to quarters at 3:14 am.
