10-032 Monday February 1st at 7:00 am Rescue 11 was dispatched for a vehicle fire on I-71 and mm 155. OSP arrived on the scene and advised that the fire was extinguished and we could cancel. Chief 101 requested the information on the vehicle for the fire report and Rescue 11 returned to quarters at 7:15 am.

10-033 Monday February 1st at 4:10 pm Rescue 11 responded to 328 West High Street for an odor of gas. Fire fighters checked the structure and could not find any gas with the meters. Rescue 11 returned to quarters at 4:33 pm.

10-034 Monday February 1st at 6:43 pm Station 19 was dispatched for a fire alarm at 600 Douglas Street apartment 5. As firefighters arrived on station dispatch cancelled them noting that the alarm was from burned food > on the stove. No units responded to the scene.

10-035 Tuesday February 2nd. at 3:31 pm Rescue 11 responded to 5865 CR 9 for an odor in the house. Rescue 11 arrived on scene at 3:38 pm and check the residence with meters and could not find anything except an occasional wet carpet smell. Rescue 11 returned to quarters at 4:00 pm.

10-036 Thursday February 4th at 10:33 Rescue 11 responded to 841 Marion Road Woodside Village for an activated fire alarm. Rescue 11 arrived on scene and found that they were testing the system. They had notified the alarm monitoring company but they had felt that the test time had passed. Rescue 11 returned to quarters at 11:00 pm.

10-037 Thursday February 4th at 12:06 pm Rescue 11 was dispatched to 5167 Road 130 MA with Station 29 for a CO check. Station 29’s meter was unavailable. Rescue 11 and Rescue 21 arrived on scene at 12:17 pm checked the residence and found no CO. All units returned to quarters at 12:50 pm.

10-038 Thursday February 4th at 7:38 pm Rescue 11 responded to 326 West Marion Road for an odor of gas. This time the gas was from a broken gas line in the basement going to the water heater. The gas was shut off to the water heater maintaining gas to the furnace. Rescue 11 returned to quarters at 8:15 pm.

10-039 Friday February 5th at 2:06 pm Rescue 11 responded to an MVC rollover on Road 126. Arriving on scene at 2:11 pm finding a vehicle nose down in the ditch on the driver side with the two victims still in their seat belts. Firefighters assisted the victims out of the vehicle. There were no injuries. Rescue 11 returned to quarters at 3:00 pm.

10-040 Friday February 5th at 5:19 pm Station 19 was dispatched to 100 West High Street for an MVC. EMS personnel advised that that we were not needed on the scene and we cancelled at 5:26 pm.

10-041 Friday February 5th at 11:49 pm Tanker 14 responded MA with First Consolidated FD on a working garage fire at 4887 Marion – Williamsport Road. Tanker 14 arrived on scene at 12:12 am and was released at 12:14 am returning to quarters at 1:00 am.

10-042 Saturday February 6th at 1:42 PM Squad 1 needed assistance with a patient at 6505 Road 76. Brush 12 arrived on scene at 1:52 pm and returned to quarters at 2:30 pm. This was due to snow and the patient .

10-043 Monday February 8th at 10:09 pm Brush 12 responded to the area between Edison and Denmark for a reported natural gas odor. Firefighters are familiar with this call for this area and checked the oil well on Road 130 just South of SR 95. Firefighters found that the odor was coming from the oil well tank system. Brush 12 returned to quarters at 11:00 pm.

10-044 Tuesday February 9th at 1:52 am dispatched Tanker 14. Tanker 14 responded and was cancelled at 2:04 and Engine 15 was then dispatched to 300 North Marion Street in Cardington for a working house fire. Engine 15 arrived on scene at 2:15 am. Firefighters assisted with the extinguishment of the fire and was released at 4:35 am returning to quarters at 4:59 am. Firefighters cleaned and reloaded hose until 5:30 am when they left the station.

10-045 Thursday February 11th at 11:07 am Brush 12 responded with 2 firefighters to assist Medic 1 with snow in the driveway to the house. Brush 12 arrived on scene at 11:15 am, assisted with the patient and returned to quarters at 11:50 am.


10-046 Friday February 12th at 5:13 am Station 19 was dispatched MA with Station 29 for a fire alarm at 314 Park Avenue. Captain 204 arrived on the scene and determined that it was burned food on the stove and cancelled all MA equipment at 5:19 am. No equipment responded.

10-047 Friday February 12th at 11:38 am Rescue 11 was dispatched MA with Station 100 (Caledonia) for a multi vehicle MVC at 4200 St Rt 100. Rescue 11 was cancelled at 11:46 am and returned to quarters at 12:04 pm.


10-048 Friday February 12th at12:17 pm Brush 12 responded to 720 North Main Street for a service run to check out a smoke detector. A low battery was found in a CO detector. Brush 12 returned to quarters at 12:45 pm.


10-049 Friday February 12th at 5:19 pm Tanker 14 responded MA with St 59 for a structure fire at 7369 St Rt 314. Tanker 14 arrived on scene at 5:27 pm and was released at 5:35 pm to return to quarters. Tanker 14 returned to quarters at 5:56 pm.


10-050 Sunday February 14th at 7:35 pm Brush 12 responded on a service run to 466 Lee Street to check out water from a collapsed roof leaking into an electric box. The maintenance man was contacted and was to repair the situation later that evening. Brush 12 returned to quarters at 8:30 pm.


10-051 Tuesday February 16th at 5:24 am Station 19, 29, and 39 were dispatched to 3613 Road 115, Gilead Christian School for a fire alarm, water flow. Rescue 11 arrived on scene at 5:35 am to investigate the alarm. Normally this would indicate that a sprinkler head was flowing water and that there would be a fire. Apparently there had been a water pressure drop in the system and the water flow switch was operated. There was not a true water flow. All equipment was released at 5:58 am. Rescue 11, Engine 15, Tower 18, Engine 23, Engine 30, Tanker 14, Tanker 24, Tanker 36 were all dispatched to the scene. Response was completed at 6:10 am.


10-052 Tuesday February 16th at 11:56 am Rescue 11 responded to 156 North Main Street for an odor of natural gas. Rescue 11 arrived on scene at 12:00 noon and did find natural gas in the driveway and close to the entrance of the home gas meter located in the basement. Columbia Gas was notified and arrived at 12:30 pm. Rescue 11 turned the situation over to Columbia Gas and retuned to quarters at 12:40 pm.


10-053 Tuesday February 16th at 3:25 pm Brush 12 responded to assist Medic 1 with a patient at 685 Baler Street. Brush 12 arrived on scene at 3:27 pm, assisted with the patient and returned to quarters at 4:00 pm.


10-054 Wednesday February 17th at 2:23 am Station 19 was dispatched to 397 South Delaware Street for a zapping noise in the wall at Lot #2. Rescue 11, Engine 15, Brush 12 and Tanker 14 with Medic 1 and 9 responding at 2:31 am and arrived on the scene at 2:35 am and found that a screw in the paneling had hit the Romex wire and insulation. The screw had shorted out and was burning the wire and insulation and was smoldering in the wall. No damage to the structure was noted. Rescue 11 and all other equipment returned to quarters at 2:57 am arriving at 3:05 am. Clean up was completed at 3:15 am.


10-055 Wednesday February 17th at 10:42 pm Rescue 11 to the 155 mm on I-71 for an On-Star reported MVC rollover. Rescue 11 arrived on the scene at 11:04 pm finding that the victim was uninjured. Firefighters disconnected the battery and assisted the victim from the vehicle. Rescue 11 returned to quarters at 11:51 pm. Clean up was completed at midnight.


10-056 Thursday February 18th at 3:48 pm Rescue 11 responded MA with Cardington for an MVC at the intersection of St Rt 61 and Road 529. Rescue 11 arrived on scene at 3:55 pm, assisted with the victim and disconnected the battery. Rescue 11 returned to quarters at 4:14 pm. Clean up was completed at 4:30 pm.


10-057 Friday February 19th at 3:23 pm Rescue 11 was dispatched to the rear of 21 North Main Street for electric wires down. Wires were burned off and laying on the ground. Barricade barrels from the Village were placed in position to protect the public until Ohio Edison could arrive. Rescue 11 returned to quarters at 3:45 pm.



10-058 Sunday February 21st at 10:31 Station 19, 29, 39 and 59 were
dispatched to a working house fire at the Mike Walsh residence at 5400 County Road 115. Rescue 11 arrived on scene at 10:45 pm finding a fully involved house fire with the main fire coming from the “C” side (rear) of the home. The fire had extended into the attic of the garage and main structure. The lady occupant was awakened by the sound of breaking glass and had to escape through the bathroom window onto the hot tub into the back yard. The fire had started in the kitchen and had quite a head start when firefighters arrived. Flames reached 20 to 30 feet above the house roof when firefighters arrived. There was difficulty in maintaining was constant water supply on scene. Due to the lay of the driveway a 4” supply line was laid down the driveway and relay pumped from Engine 30 at the road. Tankers filled up from hydrants at the Franklin Township Hall and the Best Western on State Route 95 and then dumped their water into a dump tank that supplied Rescue 11 at the fire. Firefighters from Mt. Gilead, Cardington, Marengo and Johnsville fought the fire until 4:26 am. Brush 12 with 2 firefighters remained on the scene until 7:20 am to ensure that there were not hot spots to rekindle the fire. Rescue 11, Engine 15, Tanker 14, Brush 12 and 17 responded from Station 19. Engine 23 and Tanker 24 responded from Station 29, Engine 30 and Tanker 36 responded from Marengo, Chesterville Station 2, Tanker 54 responded form Johnsville. Medic 1, 2 and 9 assisted with accountability and rehabilitation at the scene. All MA equipment was released at 4:26 am. Clean up was completed at 6:30 am when firefighters on station left. The fire was determined to be accidental in nature. The property was insured and declared a total loss.


10-059 Monday February 22nd at 8:05 am Station 19 was dispatched to reported visible smoke at 110 Hill Street in Edison. Rescue 11, Engine 15 and Tower 18 responded with Rescue 11 arriving on scene at 8:11 am finding that the smoke was actually steam from the dryer vent. Chief 101 talked with the resident and they were drying clothes. All equipment returned to quarters at 8:45 am and finished cleaning equipment at 9:00 am.


10-060 Tuesday February 23rd at 12:43 pm Brush 12 responded MA with Medic 1 to assist with lifting the patient to the squad. Brush 12 returned to quarters at 13:15 pm.


10-061 Tuesday February 23rd at 1:19 pm Brush 12 was requested to respond the Gator to 5540 Road 191 to assist Medic 3 with a patient in the woods. Brush 12 arrived on the scene at 1:40 pm but the patient was being loaded into the squad waiting on the helicopter. Brush 12 was released at 2:13 pm to return to quarters.


10-062 Tuesday February 23rd at 5:18 pm Rescue 11 responded to 5400 Road 115 for a hot spot in the door frame of the back door. Firefighters extinguished the fire and checked the structure for any additional fire. Rescue 11 returned to quarters at 7:00 pm.

10-063 Tuesday February 23rd at 8:47 pm Tanker 14 was dispatched MA with Station 29 for a chimney fire at 2841 Road 169. Tanker 14 was cancelled at 9:00 pm returning to quarters at 9:31 pm. Firefighters completed clean up at 9:45 pm.


10-064 Friday February 26th at 9:17 am Rescue 11 responded with Medic 1 and 9 to an MVC rollover at 2069 SR 95 East of Denmark. Rescue 11 arrived on scene at 9:30 am and checked the vehicle for leakage. Driver was not injured. Rescue 11 returned to quarters at 9:32 am. Cleanup was complete at 10:00 am.


10-065 Friday February 26th at 12:17 pm Rescue 11 responded to 4488 SR 61 South for an MVC car into a utility pole. The driver was not injured. Firefighters disconnected the battery and returned to quarters as OSP arrived on scene. Rescue 11 returned to quarters at 12:35 pm. Cleanup was complete at 13:00 pm.


10-066 Friday February 26th at 3:01 pm Rescue 11 responded MA with Station 39 for a reported MVC on I-71 at the 147 mm in the median. Units drove down the road unable to locate the incident Medic 9 located the incident over an embankment with no injuries. All units were cancelled at 3:12 pm. Rescue 11 returned to quarters at 3:23 pm and was cleaned up at 4:00 pm.


10-067 Friday February 26th at 4:25 pm Rescue 11 was dispatched to an MVC at the intersection of SR 95 and Road 69 involving two vehicles in a rear end collision. Rescue 11 arrived on scene at 4:38 in heavy snow, assisted with the victims and removed the battery cables from the one vehicle. Rescue 11 returned to quarters at 5:09 pm. Clean up was completed at 5:30 pm.


10-068 Friday February 26th at 6:14 pm Station 19 was dispatched to investigate an odor of gasoline or paint thinner at 99 South Main Street. It was thought to be paint thinner at the time. Firefighters flushed the sewer to alleviate the situation. Firefighters left the scene at 7:44 pm. On Monday a strong odor of gasoline was found at the Gilead Twp building by city employees. An investigation later there was no odor in the structure since the doors have been left open several hours.
